Front Office Manager

The Lake Champlain Waldorf School is accepting applications for Front Office Manager for our Early Childhood through Grade Eight campus located in Shelburne, Vermont. The Front Office Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the front office, assisting students, faculty and visitors and for the maintenance of the student records. This position is a support position to the faculty and families in the school and involves myriad responsibilities. We are seeking applicants with the following qualities:

• Excellent writing skills

• Exceptional computer skills including complete facility with all of the Microsoft Office products and with integrated data systems

• Organizational skills

• The ability to work well with and enjoy children of all ages

• The ability to work well with parents and faculty members

• Certification in basic first aid and the ability to administer it

1st Grade Teacher

The Lake Champlain Waldorf School is accepting applications for a First Grade class teacher position for the 2012-13 school year. This will be a large class and we are seeking a dynamic and experienced teacher with Waldorf class teacher training.

Grades Six through Eight English Teacher

The Lake Champlain Waldorf School is accepting applications for a Grades Six through Eight English teacher for the 2012-13 school year. This is a half time salaried position. We are seeking applicants with teaching experience and Waldorf teacher training who have expertise in and love for teaching English skills and literature to Upper Grades students.

High School Woodworking Teaching Position

The Lake Champlain Waldorf School is accepting applications for a woodworking teacher for the 2012-13 school year. This position is paid on an hourly basis for four High School blocks, one block for each of the High School grades (9-12). Each block runs for six to eight weeks and involves 1.5 hours two to three times a week. Sometimes only one block is taught in a six to eight week calendar period and other times, two blocks are taught in the same calendar period.

Parent-Infant and Parent-Child Teacher

The Lake Champlain Waldorf School is seeking applications for a Parent-Infant and Parent-Child teacher. This teacher is responsible for facilitating Parent-Infant and Parent-Toddler Programs at our school. This is primarily a parent education position. The position and its program are overseen by the Early Childhood Core group. The programs are typically offered as weekly classes for parents and children together in a warm, developmentally appropriate environment amongst a community of other parents. The programs strive to offer parents a positive, experiential introduction to Waldorf Early Childhood Education and the benefits that it has to offer young children.

This is an hourly position. Duties include the following: • Develop daily/weekly rhythms for the program. These typically might include time for free-movement/ creative play, observation and/or discussion among parents, snack, singing/movement and/or storytelling or puppetry.

• Maintain a clean, orderly classroom space that is properly equipped as per the needs of each program.

• Purchase classroom supplies and snack foods.

• Attend weekly Faculty/staff and early Childhood meetings. Attend regular mentor meetings.

• Attend occasional enrollment events and open-houses.

• Interface with parents via written communications, telephone, and in-person meetings as needed.

• Plan annual calendar and publicity needs/timeline in conjunction with the ECCG and the enrollment office.

• Actively pursue study and continuing education opportunities in Waldorf education and Anthoposohy.

• Maintain current certification in infant and child CPR.

• The PCT is expected to develop a curriculum for each program and provide articles and written information for parents on the various aspects of the curriculum. Aspects of the curriculum might include topics such as the importance of movement, creative play and the development of the imagination, warmth, nutrition, sleep, care of the senses, media, rhythm, and so forth.

• The PCT is expected to work with the Early Childhood Core Group to further define and articulate an appropriate curriculum and goals for each program – and potentially developing new programs in the future. This work will be on-going (long-term).

• Host occasional parent evenings during the year to create opportunities for more in-depth discussions and presentations related to Early Childhood Education and child development.

Qualifications: In depth knowledge of and familiarity with Waldorf education is essential, particularly Waldorf Early Childhood education. The applicant will be expected to have or pursue Lifeways training or its equivalent.

Parent-child work is very rewarding, and it can also be challenging at times. The teacher should strive to develop and offer the following qualities:

• Warm, gracious host.

• Strong, tactful leader

• Articulate communicator who uses “accessible” language

• Artistic qualities (for example in song, movement, and storytelling/puppetry.)

• Create a positive mood for the programs and foster a sense of community among the participants.
