- Our school started in a church basement...now we have two campuses and serve over 280 children, from birth through 12th grade.
ABOUT OUR SCHOOL:
Lake Champlain Waldorf School (LCWS), an independent, coeducational day school, was founded in 1984 and became incorporated as a non-profit in 1986.
Over 280 students are enrolled (nursery school through High School), served by 36 full-time and 8 part-time faculty and staff members.
LCWS is governed by a Governance Council, the College of Teachers and Staff, and a Board of Trustees.
We are an approved Independent School by the Vermont Association of Education and a full member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America.
Additional programs offered at LCWS include Infant & Toddler, Kindergarten Aftercare, Summer Camp, after-school sports, and a variety of clubs.
Our Shelburne Campus houses the Early Childhood and Grade School buildings, gardens, playing fields and playing woods on 22 acres. We have single classrooms for each Grade School class, additional rooms for handwork, eurythmy, community functions and gym, and tutoring.
Our Charlotte Campus houses our High School, woodworking shop, and a garden on six acres. Additional spaces include an art studio, computer lab, science labs, textile room, common rooms, cafe and kitchen area.
