Garrett Kimberly
High School Drama, Social Studies, and Math
he/him
Garrett Kimberly has been part of the LCWS community since 2015, where he has somehow accumulated the privilege of teaching nearly everything except science. Over the years he has taught mathematics, drama, economics, rhetoric, history, poetry, and a variety of interdisciplinary main lesson blocks, delighting in helping students discover connections between subjects that don't always seem to belong together.
He holds a B.A. in Drama/Dance and an M.S. in Community Development and Applied Economics. Before coming to Waldorf education, Garrett spent a decade teaching in public schools, another decade leading nonprofit organizations, many years working as a professional actor, and several years working in the trades. He continues his Waldorf teacher education and believes that the best classrooms are places where curiosity, challenge, humor, and genuine relationships can all coexist.
Outside of school, Garrett is an enthusiastic gardener, an occasional caterer, an avid reader, and an unapologetic lover of games—from elegant board games to complicated mathematical puzzles, at which he is more persistent than talented. He lives in Burlington with his insightful, brilliant wife, two endlessly entertaining children (one now away at college and the other singing at all times while using his body as a drum),and a rabbit who is, according to the vet, too curious, too cute, and too crinite.
