Nicandra Galper
Handwork Teacher
she/her
Originally from Philadelphia and southern New Jersey, Ms. Galper came camping in Vermont with her family and knew at age 10 that it was destined to be her home. She attended Wilson College, received an M.S.W. from Temple University, and has completed the four-year Applied Arts Waldorf Teacher training at the Threefold Education Center in Chestnut Ridge, New York. She has also studied art history and chemistry for art conservation at UVM and Trinity College.
She is an avid forager, fermenter, tinkerer, maker, and explorer. When Ms. Galper isn’t sewing or adventuring, she loves playing with power tools and digging in the dirt in her beloved Hinesburg. She also loves to sing, contra dance, and spoil her beautiful cat, Purl.
Ms. Galper teaches the practical arts to children because she believes that the greatest gift we can give others is the knowledge that they are capable of creating beauty. When children create beautiful things with their capable hands, they learn that they are beautiful and capable as well.
