Support Teacher

she/her

Ms. Ly graduated from Simmons College in Boston with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and English Literature. She brings more than 25 years of teaching experience across public, charter, independent, and Waldorf schools, working with children from preschool through fifth grade and across a wide range of educational approaches.

After many years as a classroom teacher, Ms. Ly transitioned into her role as an Academic Support Teacher at Lake Champlain Waldorf School, a position that allows her to draw on her extensive classroom experience while supporting students and teachers throughout the school. She works closely with classroom teachers and students in grades 1–4, providing instruction in all subject areas through whole-class teaching, small-group instruction, and individualized support. She also steps in as a classroom teacher when a lead teacher is absent, providing continuity and stability for students and their learning.

Because she works across multiple classrooms and grade levels, Ms. Ly brings a broad perspective to student learning and development and is able to support continuity across the school experience. Her role extends well beyond academic instruction. She collaborates closely with classroom teachers as a teaching mentor and thought partner, helping them think through instruction, classroom dynamics, and individual student needs. She supports students as they transition between subjects and activities, provides emotional grounding when children need an extra layer of support, and works to ensure that students remain connected, engaged, and ready to learn.

With her deep classroom experience, Ms. Ly brings a broad and nuanced perspective to her work with children. She understands the importance of meeting students where they are while also holding high expectations for their growth. She especially values getting to know each student as an individual and building relationships grounded in trust, humor, respect, and a genuine belief in their abilities. She finds great joy in being a consistent and familiar presence for students and in helping classroom teachers create the conditions in which every child can thrive.

Ms. Ly is also a certified yoga teacher, having earned her certification through Breathe for Change. Outside of school, she founded and operates Fiddle Fern Nature Camp, where she leads elementary-aged children in outdoor experiences centered on nature, exploration, creativity, and play. She loves photography, traveling, spending time outdoors, and, of course, eating! Ms. Ly moved to Vermont in 2022 and lives in Shelburne with her husband and daughter.
